Welcome weavers! You're invited to enter your best work in the Great Lakes Fiber Show Competition! 

Read the requirements carefully — don't miss key details!

THE ESSENTIALS

  • All entries must be completed after June 1 of last year, and be in clean and presentable condition
  • FEE: $3 per entry/item
  • LIMITS: An entry will only be accepted into one category, with no more than two entries per category from one individual
  • ENTRY FORM: All entries must include a completed entry form — one entry form per item. If you'd like to complete your entry form in advance, click the button below to download the Weaving Competition Entry Form (PDF).
  • INFO SHEET: An informaton sheet for each entry must be completed and submitted with the entry form, providing details on materials, tools, technique and process.
  • SUBMISSIONS & DEADLINE: Entries will be accepted at the show on Saturday from 9:00–11:00am — no late entries will be accepted
  • LOCATION: Under the Grandstand
  • JUDGING: Judging will take place Saturday at noon.
  • PRIZES
    • Each category will feature First ($7), Second ($4) and Third ($3) Place prizes
    • First through Fourth places will receive a ribbon
    • The Best of Show plaque will be chosen from all First Place winners in the weaving competition
  • PICKUP: Entries must be collected Sunday between 2–3:00pm — photo ID required
     

THE CATEGORIES

  1. Off Loom Weaving
    1. Basketry
    2. Alternative Interlacement Techniques (ie, finger weaving, plaiting, twining, macrame)
  2. Band & Ribbon Weaving
  3. Traditional Loom Weaving:including Rigid Heddle Loom, Floor or Table Loom with two or more shafts/harnesses
    1. Larger Household Items (ie, woven blankets, throws) 
    2. Smaller Household Items (ie, pillows, table runners, placemats, mug rugs)
    3. Rugs
    4. Women Wearables
    5. Women Accssories (ie, scarves, hats, bags)
    6. Wall Hangings
    7. Yardage or fabric
  4. Frame Loom Weaving (ie, rectilinear, triangle pin loom)
  5. Tapestry
  6. Dimensional & Sculptural Forms
  7. Alternative Material Applications: Weft material from non-traditional sources, found objects, materials, etc


DISCLAIMER
Great Lakes Fiber Show will NOT be responsible for loss or damage. Entries will be secured during show hours and the building will be locked at night.
